Hello First Baptist Church Family,
It has been weeks since we have been able to gather for worship on Sunday morning.  We have been streaming our services and learning like every church in America what that entails.  Each week has offered a new challenge and our team has risen to the task and provided us with a video of our service for you to enjoy from your home.
As our state prepares to open businesses and services again we are working to understand the requirements for churches.  We are working with the protocols required for sanitizing and distancing in order to avoid communicating the virus during gatherings.
Here is where we stand to date:
The church has been regularly cleaned and sanitized.
We have arranged the chairs with the appropriate distance between rows.
We have studied the Guidelines For Opening Up Idaho and believe we can accommodate about 60 people in the worship center per service time.
We will not provide youth or children’s ministry as we believe we cannot keep the youth and children from interacting.  So we will ask families to keep their teens and children with them during the worship service for the time being.
SO…We will be open for worship on Sunday May 10th at 9:00 and 11:00am.
We will continue to stream and record the 9:00am service and post it like we have been doing so you may continue to participate from home.  You can access the service on our website.  Scroll down and click on the day’s message.  Then click on the streaming link and enjoy the entire service.
If you are in an at risk group you may prefer to stay home for the first couple of weeks as we all wait and see what impact Stage 1 reveals.
For those that come you may sit together as a family.
Please leave three open chairs between you and the next family.
We will have masks available for those that request them.
We will sanitize the chairs and surfaces before and after each service.
We will not shake hands in greeting one another and we will not have refreshments.
Please maintain a proper distance when standing or talking to one another.
Use hand sanitizer from dispensers located throughout the church.
Do not come if you are not feeling well or have any flu like symptoms.
I know this is an extraordinary time for all of us.  As we work within our community to open again let us do all we can to not give opportunity for the spread of the virus.
Continue to call us for assistance when needed.  Our food pantry is distributing to more than 200 families each week.  We have food available for anyone in need.  You can also pick up food for a neighbor and deliver it to them on Thursdays from 3:30pm – 6:00pm in the Union Pacific parking lot 2 blocks east of us.
If you have any questions please email us or call and we will work together to answer your questions.
Blessings to you and your family,
Pastor Mike, the Elders and Pastoral Staff of First Baptist Church
